Release Notes 6/25/09: OutWorlder's Delight
As Closed Beta continues, Elymia is allowing more and more visitors to explore, and we are studying the odd, baffling behavior of these new denizens.
In order to provide our newest residents with a more pleasing experience, we have made a large number of changes to our world. Behold!
FEATURES - Elymia Island has been renovated and refurbished for easier navigation! Residents will notice an increase in the number of city gates, and better-defined separation of districts, both inside and outside of the city. Players will notice an increased frequency of loading screens, but loading times should be dramatically shorter, and the game experience should be much more stable, including fewer crashes, fewer missing NPCs, etc.
- There is a possibility that the island restructuring may not take immediate effect for older residents. Travelling from zone to zone should allow you to travel to the new and improved areas. If this does not work, please contact game support.
- The personal compass has been added to your quest log. When viewing the log, select any quest and check the "Track Quest" box near the bottom. An arrow will appear in-game to guide you to your next goal!
- Elymian residents no longer wear sneakers! Footsteps will now be heard while walking about.
- Character health is now a concern. At present, the only ill effect of losing one's health is the inability to sprint -- or, even to jog, if one's health is entirely depleted. Keep your strength up with food and drink!
- New character animations have been added for the men and women of Elymia. New walking & running animations are now in place, and several new emotes are available on the hotbar (shift + H). Try them out!
- Now available for the distinguished Elymian gentleman: Facial Hair! Male characters may select from a small list of beard and moustache styles during creation.
WORLD - New characters will now receive a personal welcome from Marcellus Deering himself! Immediately following creation, check your in-game mail at any kiosk to read a bit about the island and your role as a new resident. Older residents may wish to create a colleague, and read over their shoulder.
- The latest fashions are now in stock! All clothing vendors have added new items to their shop inventories.
- Elymia's economy has adapted to its new OutWorld customers. Store prices have shot up for popular items, and plummeted for common goods -- but don't worry; all jobs are now paying honest wages, too!
- The Western docks are undergoing new construction. Head through the Westpark gate to take a look at what's happening to the Elymian shipping and trade hub!
- The Elymia Bulletin Services are open for business! Visit Breableton to see our fantastic new printing presses at work. The Printing Press game is now active, and ready to help literate laborers earn some silver!
UPGRADES - Your complimentary island map has been given a facelift! Easier-to-read district names, new symbols for the legend, and even locators for your quests. Check your map with the 'M' key.
- The in-game help guide has been given a facelift! Check the help files with the 'H' key.
- Several changes to the Gatheryn GUI are now in place. Easier-to-read NPC dialog, scroll bars, and cleaner buttons should make interaction much smoother.
- Don't have a mousewheel? You can still zoom the camera in and out using the + and - keys on your number pad. Using a laptop with no number pad? You can use the ] and [ keys, instead. All your zooming needs have been lovingly tended!
- Swimming in the water is no longer a baffling ordeal. Improved camera control and more intuitive character movement should provide a pleasant and relaxing underwater jaunt.
FIXES The following bugs have been fixed: - Female characters should no longer disappear during creation when "Nellie Hair" is chosen.
- Certain hats and accessories which were not appearing on character models should now be working properly.
- Custom-colored clothing from character creation should no longer revert to default colors when removed and re-worn later.
- Players should now receive a message that the options menu is not yet functioning.
- Minigame symbols on the world map will now disappear if the button is turned off.
- Hairstyles have been altered to work better in lighter colors. Flickering "bald spots" at the back of the head will no longer appear.
- Quest-giving NPCs no longer display the quest marker (!) if they do not have a quest to give.
- Whitney Lacemaker will still talk and sell clothing while players are on her quests.
- Lou "King Me" Wesley's quest is now working.
- Susan Scillia's quests are now working.
- Captain Abrahms is interactive while behind the bar.
- Right-clicking on a minigame item will not remove the cursor and lock the game.
- Players who receive mail will automatically open the mail window after checking mail at a kiosk or mailbox.
- Equipment that does not fit the character's gender will appear red when selected.
- Clarification has been provided as to the item requirements for Apple Press and Seashell Crusher.
- Various spelling and grammar corrections have been made.
