BETA FAQ

What is Gatheryn?

Gatheryn is a free-to-play virtual world from Mindfuse Games, bringing together simple, accessible gameplay with the social experiences of a persistent online world. Set in a lush 3D environment inspired by Victorian steampunk fiction, Gatheryn is a game where players can enjoy a wealth of addictive, engaging mini-games, earning their way to unique avatar customization, personalized player homes, and more -- as well as explore a deep and intriguing story with a host of fascinating characters.

What is the Gatheryn Beta Test?

As we at Mindfuse Games prepare to open Gatheryn to the world, we've been working hard to ensure that your online experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Before we're done, however, we've still got plenty of things to add to the game -- and a few things to fix, as well. We don't want to release our game, naturally, before it's ready!

That's where you come in. As a Beta Tester, you'll be given an early peek at our world-in-progress, and allowed to play Gatheryn before the rest of the world, all in exchange for your personal observations and opinions!

What will I do as a Beta Tester?

The short answer is: Play Gatheryn! You'll be downloading, installing, and running the game on your PC, just as you would if the game were complete and widely available. The difference is, you'll be playing with a smaller population of other players, gaining exclusive early access to Gatheryn's games, characters, stories, and features. We want you to create your own character, meet the residents of the in-game nation of Elymia, try out our many in-game activities, and have a good time with your fellow Beta Testers!

In exchange, what we want from you are your thoughts on how we're doing so far. Found a game you particularly liked? Tell us about it! Encountered something that could use some improvement? We're open to suggestion! Having some trouble getting around the world? Let us know where things are going wrong! Got a great idea for something a steampunk game just has to have? By all means, share it!

Most importantly, you will be helping us to discover, analyze, and destroy the bane of all games: Bugs. There are still some snags and stumbling blocks left to ferret out in Gatheryn, and as a Beta Tester, your help is needed to spot them all. One of the most valuable things a Beta Tester can do, is to file a clear and elaborate Bug Report, and we're counting on you to keep us posted on anything that isn't working properly for you. You'll be making our world a better place for yourself, and for everyone else... and you may just be rewarded for it, too!

When can I start playing Gatheryn?

Right now! By clicking on the "Download" link at the front page of mindfusegames.com, you will be directed to a registration form where you may create a free game account, as well as download and install the client. Once the game is on your PC, simply use the name and password you provided on the registration form to log in.

Jump inside the game, and have fun!

I heard that the game is going to contain vehicles, and a tutorial on board an airship. I also heard I'd be able to get my own home and pets in Gatheryn. Where are they?

They're coming soon! It's important to remember that Gatheryn is still a work-in-progress; the game you're experiencing does not contain all of the features that it will by the time it's released. As a Beta Tester, in fact, you'll be among the first to witness some of these exciting features as they're added to the world!

Keep an eye on the Beta News, provided here at mindfusegames.com, and watch for email updates. We'll be keeping you posted on all the new stuff that's coming to Gatheryn on a regular basis, and encouraging you to log back in and see them for yourself as they arrive!

Can I tell my friends about the Gatheryn Beta Test?

You can tell your friends that there is a Beta Test, and encourage them to sign up for themselves. Unfortunately, however, we have to require that you not tell your friends about the content of the game, the state of the Beta Test, or anything else that your Beta Account grants you access to. This includes blogging, posting on outside forums, writing articles, or even just chatting casually with your friends or family.

We'd like to keep things under our cloud of steam for the time being, so please don't share info about the Gatheryn Beta Test with anybody who hasn't been invited. Doing so may be grounds for termination of your Beta Account -- or possibly even prosecution. So, don't do it, okay?
